Whole-house renovation · Altrincham, Hale & Bowdon
House renovations, Altrincham.
Period and inter-war houses across Altrincham, Hale and Bowdon taken back to brick and rebuilt inside: structure, services, glazing, kitchens, bathrooms, joinery and decoration under one contract and one programme.
Renovation
The whole house, one programme.
A renovation touches every trade in the building at once. We sequence strip-out, structure, first fix, plastering, second fix and finishes so the house comes back together in the right order, and we manage Building Control, the structural engineer and specialist subcontractors as part of the job.
Most of our renovation work is Victorian, Edwardian and 1930s housing in Altrincham, Hale and Bowdon, often combined with a rear extension or a loft or basement conversion in the same contract.
What we do
Back to brick, then back to life.
Strip-out and structure
Back to brick where it needs it, with steels, openings and remodelled layouts designed and signed off before the first wall comes down.
Services and fabric
New electrics, plumbing and heating, insulation and glazing, so the finished house performs as well as it looks.
Kitchens, bathrooms and joinery
Bespoke and supplied kitchens, bathrooms, staircases, built-in wardrobes and fitted joinery, as in our Didsbury projects.
Finishes and handover
Plaster, decoration, flooring and a snagged, cleaned handover with the paperwork for Building Control.

Straight answers
Questions we get asked.
It depends on the size of the house and how much structure changes, but a full renovation of a four-bedroom house, back to brick with new services, typically runs several months on site. We give you a dated programme with the cost plan and update it as the job progresses.
For a full back-to-brick renovation it is usually better and cheaper to move out: the house has no services for a period and every room is a work area. For phased work we can plan around an occupied house, which we do routinely on commercial jobs.
Internal renovation rarely needs planning permission, but extensions, loft and basement conversions and changes to a listed building or a house in a conservation area can. All structural and most services work needs Building Control approval, which we arrange and manage as part of the contract.
